The Taste of Rainforest
Organic Coconut Oil
|
To some it is essentially tasteless and odorless - just the clearest,
purest and most natural of oils. Others detect the barest hint of
delicious cocounut flavor, but not enough to impart to other foods. |
Rainforest Certified Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is completely
free of any objectionable taste and odor that some people object to in
processed cocounut oils. We get nothing but compliments on its
smoothness and full-bodied texture.

Health Benefits of Rainforest
Organic Coconut Oil
|
Much research on the
nutritional and medicinal benefits on coconut oil has surfaced in
recent years. Much of that research has been done by Dr. Mary Enig. Dr.
Enig has classified coconuts as a "functional food," which provides
health benefits over and beyond the basic nutrients. She has
specifically identified lauric acid as a key ingredient in coconut
products:
"Approximately 50% of the fatty acids in coconut fat
are lauric acid. Lauric acid is a medium chain fatty acid, which has
the additional beneficial function of being formed into monolaurin in
the human or animal body. Monolaurin is the anti-viral, antibacterial,
and antiprotozoal monoglyceride used by the human or animal to destroy
lipid coated viruses such as HIV, herpes, cytomegalovirus, influenza,
various pathogenic bacteria including listeria monocytogenes and
heliobacter pylori, and protozoa such as giardia lamblia. Some studies
have also shown some antimicrobial effects of the free lauric acid."
THE COCONUT OIL MIRACLE by Dr. Bruce Fife, N.D. says:
"Coconut
oil has been used throughout Asia and the Pacific for thousands of
years as both a food and a medicine. Even today it holds a highly
respected position in the Ayurvedic medicine of India. Only recently
has modern medical research confirmed the many health benefits
traditionally attributed to this remarkable oil."
Coconut oil has been called the "healthiest dietary oil on
earth." If you’re not using coconut oil for your daily cooking and body
care needs you’re missing out on one of nature’s most amazing health
products.

Your Diet and Rainforest
Organic Coconut Oil

As a "functional food," coconut oil is now being recognized by the
medical community as a powerful tool against immune diseases. Several
studies have been done on its effectiveness, and much research is
currently being done on the incredible nutritional value of pure
coconut oil.
Once mistakenly thought to be bad because of its saturated fat content,
coconut oil is now known to contain a unique form of saturated fat that
actually helps prevent heart disease, stroke, and hardening of the
arteries.
The
saturated fat in coconut oil is unlike the fat found in meat or other
vegetable fats. It is identical to a special group of fats found in
human breast milk which have been shown to improve digestion and
strengthen the immune system. |
They also protect against bacterial, viral, and fungal infections.
These fats, derived from coconut oil, are now routinely used in
hospital IV formulations and commercial baby formulas. They’re also
used in sports drinks to boost energy and enhance athletic performance.
Recommended use:
You
can consume 1-4 Tbsp per day as a food supplement. Use in cooking,
frying, baking, salad or in smoothies. Can be used to replace other
oils, including butter.
Rainforest Certified Organic Extra
Virgin Coconut Oil also works beautifully as a hair conditioner, beauty
cream and massage oil. The best thing you can put on your skin!

The fact that coconut oil consists of mostly saturated fats is an
advantage when you use coconut oil for cooking. Coconut oil’s fat is
not damaged by high heat, and few oils can boast the same. In fact,
many cooking oils that boast of healthfulness can actually be unhealthy
if heated to high temperatures. Cooking with coconut oil ensures your
oil stays in its natural, healthy state.
The ability to withstand heat makes coconut oil ideal for stir fry
dishes and sauteing vegetables. Try sauteing chopped fresh garlic with
coconut oil to use as a topping for baked potatos or french bread. You
may be worried about coconut oil’s flavor not complimenting vegetable
and meat dishes, but you’ll find its taste will complement all kinds of
foods. |
You can also use coconut oil as a substitute for oil and butter in
recipes for muffins, cookies and cakes. In sweetened recipes, you can
often reduce the amount of sugar used when you add coconut oil because
of its delicate, pleasant flavor.
Coconut oil can give smoothies a rich, decadent texture. You can use it
in place of butter on toast, waffles and pancakes, too, and add a
teaspoon to a cup of coffee or tea. Coconut oil also works great for
popping popcorn.
Coconut oil is solid at room temperature, but becomes liquid at about
76 degrees Fahrenheit. To incorporate it into some recipes you may need
to heat it first so it melts into a liquid.
